Thursday Feb 17th: BKTK Meetup @ Bitmap

The next Brooklyn Tech Meetup is on February 17th, here at Bitmap Creative Labs! Come on over and join us in the discussion, have a drinks and some snack, and meet other Brooklyn-based creatives!

We’ll begin with some chitchat and networking (along with some snacks provided by yours truly) and then we’ll have two great speakers presenting discussion topics.

First up: Freelance Project Management?: Lynn Stabile is a web project manager with a focus on open-source CMS implementations such as Drupal, WordPress and Joomla!. Currently she is struggling to find PM opportunities which will allow her to maintain the freedom and flexibility of freelancing without getting sucked into an open-ended, always-onsite contracting position. She would like to have a brainstorm/discussion on how and whether this type of person could potentially fit into and benefit various (your) type of work structures and what might be the best way to approach pitching this sort of work.

Second: Nick Robalik of HERO is going to present on Unity 3D, which is a powerful tool for presenting 3D Flash-style presentations, landscapes, etc. Even better, it works on almost every platform (including those Flash-resistant iPhones and iPads). It’s a fascinating and flexible technology and should provide for some cool discussions. (And, thanks to the video projector, there will be some pretty amazing demos as well…)

The February will be hosted at a very cool, new co-working space in Williamsburg called Bitmap Creative Labs. Bitmap has been kind enough to offer up their conference room for us to use and we’re happy to take them up on it.

The details:
Bitmap Creative Labs
300 Graham Ave
Brooklyn, NY 11211

Let us know if you’re coming so that we can buy the appropriate amount of snacks/beverages. Hope to see you for what promises to be a great Meetup!
